Product Notes

Wayne Faram was born 1957 Staffordshire England where he grew up within a tradition of brass bands and choirs. His principal instrument was the bass tuba. He now lives in France. As a youth he performed with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain. He graduated from Trinity College of Music where he was recognised as the most outstanding musician of his year, winning the coveted John Burden Brass prize. After studying at Trinity under such eminent professors as James Gaddarn and Bernard Keeffe and Ashley (George) Wall, principal tubaist of the Royal Opera House London, Wayne went on to be selected for the National Centre for Orchestral Musicians, where he performed the Vaughn Williams Concerto for bass Tuba. He has worked for orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic and English National Opera, and held the position of professor within the Junior department at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After a wide and varying career, Wayne has drawn upon his orchestral and brass experiences to formulate what he believes is an "approachable and meaningful' set of compositions. British, French and Russian styles are illustrated throughout Wayne's music. THE CHERRY ORCHARD,' inspired by Anton Chekov's play, not only exhibits his taste for Russian drama and Romanticism but includes the incongruous and neo classical influences of Shostakovich, whereas PORT D'AZUR (graciously received by his Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco Prince Albert December 2012) draws ideas from around the immediate area. Ibert, Debussy and Koechlin along with many other important French 'symbolists' play no small part in Wayne's music. PROMENADE DES ANGLAIS, written with specific moments in time in mind, leads the listener through a walk within the City of Nice. It is a Promenade of dreams, made up of 5 movements, in an attempt to allow the listener to form their own attachments. Wayne uses East West Quantum Leap Symphony Orchestra as a representation and hopes this will not disturb the enjoyment of his music too much. Every note has been meticulously placed on the stave. No electronic instruments have been used to input, ensuring as little influence from technical embellishments as possible.
