One of the great singing cowboys originally discovered by Gene Autry, Jimmy Wakely became one of the most popular western singers of the late 1940's, starred in several cowboy movies, and by 1962 had sold over 15 million records. In the mid-1960's he started his own record label and released albums by country stars Johnny Bond, Noel Boggs and others. Presented here is Wakely's vintage 1973 album of classic cowboy songs "The Singing Cowboy." The album features many old favorites including "Tumbling Tumbleweeds," "When The Bloom Is On The Sage," "I'm An Old Cowhand (From The Rio Grande)" and others. All selections have been newly remastered.
