Product Notes

The Texas Footstompers are a band playing a blend of Texas country and Americana music with a touch of rock and bluegrass added every now and again. The founding members of The Texas Footstompers are Lynn Cooper, hailing from the High Plains region town of Borger, TX, and Frank Laux and Felix Guerrero both from Fort Worth, TX. The native-born Texans are all contributing songwriters for the band's material. The Footstompers developed a love for music and playing guitars together in their teenage years in the Fort Worth-Dallas area. They began writing songs together and their musical dream to perform their songs before venues larger than campfires with close friends came to fruition in the mid 70s music scene at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. The Texas Footstompers performed officially for the first time at the "Starlight Ballroom" at SFASU and soon branched out to other venues in Nacogdoches. Shelley Rupprecht Braach joined the band during this period. The origins of their band's moniker, "Texas Footstompers", are in dispute with each member laying claiming to the idea for the name. But what is not in dispute is their fun, upbeat, melodic tunes practically compels the listener to tap their feet to the songs as they listen. While many of their songs could be considered country/rock/folk, the band as a whole is difficult to categorize. Their songs range from "traditional Texas " country songs, to quiet reflective songs suitable for singing in rustic campgrounds of the Colorado Rockies, rock ballads, and more than a few raucous drinkin' songs. After many years of the band and their songs remaining dormant, perhaps to remain only a memorable part of the past of each songwriter, Felix, Frank & Lynn reunited in 2011 at the home of a good friend for what they termed "Stomperstock". After playing through their long catalog of Footstomper songs, six hours of picking and singing, several bowls of Texas (Billy) Chili and a few cold beers, the band thought they sounded pretty good for not having performed together for almost 20 years. Frank said what Felix was thinking, and the proverbial "We ought to do a CD" comment led to two years of dedication to making that Footstomper dream come true. Two years later, after many visits to January Sound Studio in Dallas under the masterful leadership of Producer and Engineer Tye Robison, a trip down south for Shelley, now living in Lolo, Montana, and a later visit from Lynn, now living in Singapore, the Texas Footsompers expect to release " New Strings on My Old Guitar", their first professionally- produced CD, on September 2, 2013. One of the unique features of the Texas Footstompers is the varying "day job" of each member. Felix is a PH.D research scientist with the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Kerrville, TX, Lynn is a geophysicist working in the Pacific Rim based out of Singapore. Shelley is an acclaimed wine sales specialist in Lolo, Montana and Frank is self-employed as an executive recruiter in Keller,Texas. Due to geographic limitations, the group is primarily a studio band. However, Felix and Frank will be announcing some gigs in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in December, so stay tuned. Frank, Felix, Shelley and Lynn hope you will stay visit their band website often as the group completes and releases their first of several CDs. They hope you will join the company of fans and friends that have kept their songs and energies in their minds and hearts. The Texas Footstompers hope you will let your friends in on some songs that will make you tap your foot to the music. This music will make you want to sing along, might bring a tear to your eye, and we are sure will make you smile a lot. Our old guitars sure sounded good back in those days of garage picking sessions, midnight campfires in the Colorado Rockies, and the gigs of the good old days. But we have new strings on those old guitars and we hope you will give a listen.
