Product Notes

This Album is a lifelong project that after 30 plus years is finally coming to fruition. The Album's concept is that we are unhappy with many aspects of the world we live in and would like to make it a better place. With the use of deep penetrating worldview lyrics, we feel the need to offer our hope and inspiration to those searching for the clues and answers to help humanity. This Album is an edgy combination of Rock & Roll mixed with Christian-based Rock and generation defining worldview lyrics that try to explain the troubles we all encounter and our vision of hope. The Album, recorded mostly in my basement and Dan Wos' home studio, was made on Garageband. I then took the tracks to Hyland Recording for editing and mixing. From the Fathoms, is a collaboration of many talented musicians, most of whom are my dearest friends. The driving force behind this Album is Norman Chambers. I was born in Queens, New York and shortly thereafter moved upstate to Binghamton, NY. My love and passion for music started very early in life, when I saw The Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show February 9th, 1964. Two months later my Mom bought me the 'Meet the Beatles' Album for my 5th birthday and my journey began. After returning from college, I purchased my first guitar and taught myself to play. I would then begin to voice my opinions and put my thoughts on paper. Earlier, I was fortunate to have the lead role in my 6th grade operetta. I also sang in Chorus from 7th grade until 10th grade - earning trips to the Broome County All Star event & NYS All-Chorale event... The event was recorded and made into an Album. One of the many contributors to this project is my childhood best friend - Scott Hawley. Scott and I share many of the same interests; our love for The Beatles, NY Yankees, sports and of course the British Invasion Bands of the 60's & 70's. His influence came from his Mom, Mona, who was a true English lady. We started playing together and writing songs and of course were very competitive in everything we did. Songwriting was no different, we were always trying write songs that would top the others newest endeavor. We had the opportunity to play a few small coffee houses, Churches and even a couple of outdoor venues. We were a poor-mans version of Simon & Garfunkel. Scott is a prolific Singer / Songwriter / Guitarist and is still playing out in open mics and other small venues. Scott has contributed 3 of his great songs to this Album and could have easily contributed more. Scott wrote, played and sang these songs with the same passion he has had throughout his musical life. Dan Wos is the next major contributor to this project. Dan offered to help me and graciously contributed his phenomenal talents and experience to mentor me through my first Album. Dan is, in my opinion, the best lead guitarist in the Capital Region. Dan was a childhood prodigy - starting to play the guitar at age 9. He was born in Schenectady,NY and raised in Glenville, NY. Dan is a successful Musician, Businessman and Author. He is a songwriter and has many published works to his credit; including the 2000 Iron Cat Records release 'U.S.Bandit' by U.S.Bandit and the 2006 Iron Cat Records release 'Voodoo Man' by the Dan Wos Project. Many of his songs have been featured on TV, Radio and Commercials in countries around the world. Dan has toured in many states up & down the East Coast starting in the 80's. He and his collection of Les Paul's have been kickin butt for many years. One of his favorite quotes is : ' When musical expression meets musical appreciation - the connection has been made. That's were the magic is. ' Dan and I have been meeting for Saturday breakfasts for the past few years and then we would drive over to Guitar Center and we would play the top of the line acoustic guitars in the backroom ( as he would put it 'noodle around' ) or he would crush some chords and then rip some razor-sharp leads in the front area. This is were I discovered Dan's true brilliance - as nearly every time he would have heads turning and checking to see what he was playing. He also walked me through step by step the Album-making process and has been an enormous help during this project. Our next major contributor is Charlie D'Andrea. Charlie is a multi-talented musician, who is able to play several instruments. Charlie's musical career started pretty early, at age 16 he played in a Symphony Orchestra. Charlie contributed his amazing skills on the Keyboards, Cello and Vocals. He was also Co-writer on our tribute song ' Oklahoma Strong'. Charlie is the musical instructor at his own 'Noteworthy Musik' and has taught many talented aspiring musicians. A couple of his students have gone on to have very successful music careers. Charlie has performed in many bands, with many different musical styles - in large and small venues including Saratoga SPAC. Charlie also has the ability to hear in 'perfect pitch' which allows him to identify the correct pitch of any musical note or key of any song. Another main contributor is Freddy Ingleton. Freddy was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in New York City. He was inspired very young to follow his dream as an R & B vocalist. His favorites' being; The Temptations, The Delfonics and the rest of Motown's magnificent stars. After singing in School and Church for most of his early years - he went looking to pursue his destiny. In 1996, Freddy auditioned for The Delfonics and was selected to join the group by it's leader and 1st Tenor William Hart. Freddy sang with the Philadelphia-based group for 15 years. Touring in small & large venues all around the world. He followed that career with joining Blue Magic in 2008. He is currently a solo artist with a hit single 'Butterfly' and has recorded several other songs. He still sings with Blue Magic occasionally and annually performs at SCCC for Black History Month - where he has the Freddy Ingleton Student Scholarship Fund. We were very fortunate to also have Johnnie Fuller. He is a multi-talented Musician from Binghamton, NY. John contributed much of the music & instrumentation on a couple of the songs ( No One & Oh Lord, What Can I Do ? ) The list of instruments that John created for these 2 songs were : Keyboards, Bass Guitar, Guitar, Drums, Percussion and Illumination. All from his basement studio in Hillcrest, NY. Johnnie was the creator of ' The Lord's Waltz '. There are others who contributed their talents to this project: James 'Jimmy Jam' Johnson - Alto Sax. Joanne Cornish, Lynne Dinon, Ellie Decker (Sparrow) - angelic background vocals, Ted Hyland & Eric Murtaugh - Percussion. David Gordon ( Sony Records ) Piano and Studio Engineer for Acoustic Breeze. Ted Hyland - Editing & Mixing guru for the Album. Song Meanings: Savior's Theme - My belief that Jesus Christ or another Savior is coming back to save the world. Acoustic Breeze - An instrumental song that will set that calming mood, it takes the listener to that calm place before a journey to somewhere else and back. No One - Worldview lyrics that ask why is our world like this and why no one seems to care or want to change it. Oh, Lord What Can I Do ? - How people seem to search more often for God's help after tragedy strikes. Love - Love song for my wife. Rewritten and rerecorded. One of my personal favorites ! The Mystery of My Faith - My agnostic view of religion and the basis of the Album's front cover. From the time I was a young boy - I have questioned faith and all it represents. My yearning & journeyto find that answer. My most personal song ! Running From the Cross- Too many people leaving the Church and their parent's generation of morals and values. The Chant - Was a dream I had of a Rock Star / Savior bringing unity and faith to a concert audience. A song designed to allow people a chance to let off a little steam and feel that human presence in all of man-kind. Bring us all together for a moment in time- so we realize how much we have in common. Oklahoma Strong - A tribute song for the people of Moore, OK who endured the 2013 Tornadoes. 50% of all proceeds from this song will be donated to those unfortunate people who lost much of what they owned.
