Product Notes

Track 1, Mistake in Chopin, was exactly that. One day while Albert was trying to perfect a Chopin piece, he hit a wrong note that immediately gave him the idea for his next jazz song. Track 2, Bland County Rag. In 2011, Albert's father wrote a play to help celebrate their county's 150th birthday and he ask Albert to write a song for the production. Track 3, Broken Toy was his first composition, which he wrote at the age of 9 after, you guessed it, his toy broke. Track 7, Tritone Blues was his winning entry into the Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award. Track 8 got it's name when an audience member commented, "When I heard that song, I pictured George Gershwin meeting Warner Brothers wearing a coconut." And that is what he named it. Track 11, Mary Had a Little Stoke, was a last minute addition. Albert, Wes and Willis, after wrapping up the recording of the10 planned songs, were having a little fun with the well known classic song. Engineer, Tom Ohmsen was still recording and convinced them to add it to the album. From the Sublime to the Ridiculous was recorded at Flat Five Press and Recording Co. Salem, Virginia.
