Product Notes

'We Three' fka 'The Humlie Trio', have been together all of their lives, because they are two brothers and a sister. Here is a short bio on them that can be found on their website; humlieschoolofmusic.com. The Humlie Family began when George married Kelley in 1989. Then in 1991, Joshua was born and would bring rock-solid rhythm on the drums, progressive chords on the piano, and inspiring vocals. In 1993, Bethany would join the mix with her electric and upright bass grooves, not to mention her pure and sweet vocals. Finally in 1996, Manny would add the finishing touch with his ever expanding and captivating vocals, surrounded by his amazing guitar work. Joshua, Bethany, and Manny are 'We Three'. Here are some insights on a few of the songs on their new Album: Joshua describes the song, 'Leave a Light on'. This song as many of our songs do, began in the music room. Manuel and I were working on something and he asked me randomly if I remembered the phrase at grandpa's funeral service, 'we'll be there soon, so leave a light on.' Manuel said that ever since then, he has wanted to write a song using that phrase. So, what did we do? We dropped what we were doing and started working on it of course! The song went through a lot of transformations...I mean a lot! I started with the lyrics, melody and harmony, but no real groove or thoughts on the specific instrumentation were flowing. Believe it or not, the first feel we tried was an 80's rock feel, with a big electric guitar lead line, which we still sing on occasion. ( I wouldn't be surprised if it found it's way in another song down the road.) We got going pretty deep into the recording process when we all finally looked at each other and said, 'this isn't working.' Although it had a cool feel, the lyrics and melody were simply not fitting for an 80's rock tune. So, with much more tweaking and revamping (oh, and the influence of a mission trip to Africa), here's the result! This song was written in the memory of our Grandpa Paul who left this life over a decade ago, and to our Auntie Kathy who passed away very suddenly only a few years ago. We dedicate it to them along with our dear friends Patty Huff and Ezra Koch, both incredible examples to pattern our lives after. Although we mourned the loss of these four people deeply and will always miss them, we look forward with great hope, anticipation and joy to the day we get to see them again. We know the way. We'll be there soon, so leave a light on. Bethany's perspective; 'Me myself and I' is a song that was written kind of unexpectedly while I was doodling on my bass. The words, pouring out as I played, told a story I didn't realize I wanted to tell. As the song evolved I realized that in a way I was talking about anyone who blames everything, but themselves, for where they're at and don't see that they themselves can change their circumstances. Or even just their perspective. A new perspective can change everything. All alone with my thoughts, I realized that one of the people I was talking to was me. If I could change my perspective, stop making excuses, and stop focusing so much on my problems, I could accomplish so much more. So when I took the song to the boys they sprinkled their magical touch on it and brought the song to life! We sang it to each other, bounced lyrics off one another, and finally told the story that I really needed to tell. So, in the words of a young woman still figuring out life, be the change you've been waiting for, lay down your rights, and know that there's so much more to life then me, myself, and I. Manuel's (Manny's) thoughts; 'Mystery to Me' This song is dedicated to all parents who haven't been shown the love that they deserve. As a kid we can't always see our parent's reasoning for the things that they do. We don't understand why they want to hold our hand when we cross the street, or why they always want to hold us close when we watch a movie. For many kids this remains a mystery for along time. The point I'm trying to get across in this song is that even when you don't understand why your parents do what they do, learn to trust them and give them the love they deserve. I wrote this song during a time when I was really questioning a decision my parents were making. I felt like they were completely wrong and that this decision was going to cause a fatal blow to so many things. Through this confusing time, my parents asked one thing and one thing only. They asked me to trust them, even when it didn't make sense. They said if I did that, it would work out for the better in the end. Although I had my doubts, I did my best to put them aside and trust. It was in that time that my mystery was finally revealed. The Music of We Three will entice you to want more, more of their music and more of life itself.
