Product Notes

Orquesta SCC ~ Renacimiento ~ CD Sampler 'RENACIMIENTO' (Rebirth): The album 'Renacimiento' by Orquesta SCC (Salsa Con Conciencia) is the first album by the band being released in late October 2013. In actuality the majority of Orquesta SCC members recorded on three previous albums 'Salsa Con Conciencia', 'Mi Tumbao Social', & 'Ecos Del Barrio as members of La Excelencia, before the band ended in 2012. Conguero, composer and founder; Jose Vazquez-Cofresi who is known for his songs recorded by La Excelencia; 'La Salsa y el Guaguanco', 'Deja De Criticar', 'Aña Pa' Mi Tambor', 'Duelo De Bongo', 'Nueva York Sin Ti', and La Economía, wrote five songs for the album. Lead vocalist and composer; Edwin Perez, who also sung lead vocals for La Excelencia, wrote six songs and produced the the new CD. Bass player, arranger, and backup-vocalist; Jorge Bringas, who recorded on La Excelencia's last two albums, wrote all the arrangements for 'Renacimiento'. For all you La Excelencia fans out there have no fear, Orquesta SCC continues the salsa dura sound you have grown to love and social lyrics. In reality once you hear the album; 'Renacimiento' you feel your hearing La Excelencia, just now with a different name. The first song on the album starts with a swinging tumbao on 'Yo Los Invito A Gozar' with a solo by timbalero Jesse Alfonso. 'A Mi Estilo' a guaguancó is the only romantic song on the album that is definitely not salsa monga at all, it includes a solo by 'Manos De Hierro'; Jose Vazquez-Cofresi. Next is 'Original Y Sin Copia' a song that tells a story of the bands history and those who have tried to imitate their ideas and style, it includes a solo by trombonist; Rafi Makiel . 'Dejala Que Baile' starts off with a clave and a chant that gets you ready for a very danceable and catchy tune, the song includes solos by Charles 'Swing' Dilone on bongos and Ronald 'Renaissance' Prokopez on trombone. 'El Montuno De La Verdad' showcases the bands conscience lyrics with a solo by trumpet player; Matt Hilgenberg and master tres guitar player Yuniel Jimenez. 'La Pelona' is a comical song that will make you laugh by making fun of real life situations. 'La Salsa Que Traigo' is a social song about how salsa music is for everyone, it is the fastest song on the album. 'Pancho Rumba' a song that tells a story of a washed out musicians and is brilliant. 'Son Son Son Sonero' has a nice cha-cha feel made for the dancer. 'Basta Ya' the first single released by the band showcases the trombone section with a social message to stop the violence. The album ends with 'Alboroto En El Barrio' which is a festive song from beginning to end with descriptions of the barrio life. Edwin Perez proves that amongst the young soneros he is one of the best at his vocal talents and inspirations. 'Renacimiento' is a strong album with no fillers, and made with the dancer, and salsa aficionado in mind. Orquesta SCC stays true to it's New York salsa dura roots and continues where La Excelencia left off. Critics around the world are already considering 'Renacimiento' to be the best album made by former La Excelencia members and already being voted as best album of 2013-2014.
