Stuntman: Ignition (Playstation 2)

This completely reworked sequel has players once again performing an array of audacious feats as a Hollywood stuntman.

The game contains six movies (each comprising of six scenes) all deriving from different genres. Developer Paradigm has drawn inspiration for stunts from a number of popular blockbusters. With such a variety of movies available, players will enact stunts in movies such as Night Avenger (a Batman-esque superhero fare) and Whoopin and a Hollerin’ 2 (the sequel to a movie featured in the original game, in the vein of Dukes of Hazzard).

As players drive around the course they will perform a number of manoeuvres, and the scripted events surrounding the action mean that staying within the timeframe is important. Successfully completing stunts enables players to complete the scene and earns stars, which can be used to unlock further levels. Players also have the ability to chain together stunts to attain huge scores. A multiplayer online mode allows gamers to compete in races, battle it out to complete stunts or traverse user-created Stunt City Arenas.

Possessing an addictive quality that will have players constantly coming back to try to achieve the perfect run, Stuntman – Ignition is a worthy sequel to the action-packed original title.
