        Comments about Mini Ninjas (PC):

A quirky, tongue in cheek fully 3d adventure/brawler/roleplaying game with a supporting story, gorgeous graphics and a casual easily accessible approach.

This is a great game for primary school kids, those aged over 8 as there is some cartoon violence. It is probably of more interest to boys (and tomboys) as the main focus is ninja's, fighting and saving the world from the bad guy while having a big adventure. The cartoon violence isn't very graphic, there is no blood, bruises or bodies. Instead the enemies when defeated turn back into animals, (the reasons for this are ecplained in the game and it makes sense in narrative context - I did say the game was quirky and very tongue in cheek)

The game is bright and colourful with excellent graphics for a game aimed primamrily at younger gamers. The character animations are fluid and the world is engaging.

The gameplay is well balanced and for the most part engaging, though the bash the bad guys aspect can get a bit repetitive. Luckily there are secrets to find in every level and a bit of relatively straightforward exploring to do if so inclined. While this may sound a bit complicated for the younger gamer the levels are laid out quite linearly and the places to explore and secret areas fairly easy to discover.

There are some gadgets and skills to obtain and multiple characters to unlock. This is not to say that it is of the level of a true RPG like Dragon Age, but more of a casual kid friendly version. There is magic of a sort, a type of slow-motion super power attack mechanic that is actually exceptionally well executed and very entertaining to perform. Not to mention fishing, boating, turning into animals and picking frit. Whilst the game does reward exploration and thoroughness, though those who choose not to travel off the beaten path aren't really penalised. It is also always very clear wht the next objective is, where to go and the game has a mechanic to help those who get stuck head in the right direction. There is also a tutorial in the form of the starting area, to familiarise players in a stp-by-step fashion with all the aspects of the game.

The controls are simple and straightforward. Very simple to master and won't produce frustration.

The gameplay itself is basic and easily within the challenge curve of primary aged kids, the casual gamer or even the more hardcore looking for some no-brainer play. That being said there is usually enough going on on-screen, variation of enemies, childishly amusing cutscenes that the game rarely gets boring and the simplicity of the gameplay and controls feels appropriate.

This is not a game for those looking for a deep and meaningful experience or anything more than a bright, funky relatively superficial experience. The game designers seemed to have relised this though and the game delivers exactly what they intended.

In conclusion this game is a kid-friendly cross between a mario adventure or banjo and kazooie and something like ninja gaiden. I highly recommend this game for older primary kids or casual gamers. I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough of it.

        Comments about Mini Ninjas (PC):

Certainly an interesting game. It's very engaging to begin with, a very detailed and engrossing environment with appealing characters. However, it loses it's lustre rather quickly too. The game play is a little too simple for the higher echelons of gamers and the story doesn't really offer any substance.

Overall, given the relatively low price of this game, it still worth tinkering with this game.

        Service and delivery comments:

Delivery took a week to get here. Wish it could be a little quicker. Other than that, it's wonderful.

        Comments about Mini Ninjas (PC):

Mini Ninjas is definitely one of the best 3rd person games available.
At first, the game seems like your basic platformer and reminds you of games such as Kung Fu Panda in gameplay and graphical style.
However Mini Ninjas is much more than your basic run, bash and collect game.

At the centre of this is a very basic RPG-style inventory which you use to collect and combine items gained through your adventures.
You can collect plants, herbs and other natural objects to create spells or potions; you can buy or collect special bombs and combat items to help in battles.
There is a small, but very useful number of spells that once learnt can then be used for a multitude of ninja tactics: take over the spirits of forest animals and evade enemies or use sacred spirits to guide you and find hidden temples.
In Mini Ninjas the player can, at any time, swap between multiple ninjas that are befriended during the story; each ninja has their particular strengths and weaknesses and adds a lot of variety to the game, allowing you to use warhammers or long-range weapons, instead of being confined to the main character, Hiro's, swordplay.

The graphics and sounds are up to date and the overall style of the game is appealing to young gamers as well as adults.
The more you play Mini Ninjas, the more you will realise how much effort and detail is in the game world; with the ability to fish, hide in long grass ninja-style, shake trees for fruit, use your hat as a boat and go for a ride down the river and more.

        Overall a great game.
