Product Notes

This album was inspired by artists such as George Harrison, Jim James, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and Tom Petty. Blake wrote the lyrics during the beginning of 2013 after the end of the Mayan Calendar cycle and with the idea of transformation and spiritual acknowledgement in mind. 'The guitar parts sort of just wrote themselves to the poetry I had established in the lyrics. I kind of just let the songs happen, without forcing anything. The writing process unfolded with tremendous ease! I simply acted as the conduit for the music to flow through me.'-Blake C. Erickson. There is a evolutionary progress throughout the album with the first track referring to the yang energy, the acknowledgement of immortality and death in the song 'Indian Burial Mound' and yet includes the yin energy with the birth of a new loving relationship. From this acknowledgment of immortality the album moves through the concept of making love a central theme in one's life and even loving those who attempt to hold a person back with restrictions such as in 'United States of Mind' a song protesting the government propaganda and corruption. The struggle for independence and self actualization on a level of the song 'Fruit of Life' and the empowering song 'Mojo' with the chorus repeating 'I know you can see, open up your third eye!'. The album finishes with a deep spiritual lesson in the songs 'Ebb and Flow' and the Hindu Tantra song 'Shakti Shiva' with lyrics about the yoga, or union, of the masculine and feminine, and the art of meditation while repeating the mantra 'Om Namah Shiva' to finish the album in a state of zen contemplation.
